At her lab in San Diego, she simulates the effects of water vapor and airborne pollutants on iron particles. WebMore recent analysis of Southern Ocean iron fertiliza- tion using 3D models suggests a more conservative off- set of 6 to 18% due to downstream far-field effects, as iron-stimulated macronutrient utilization increases local N 2O production, but reduces production in the tropics due to decreased macronutrient supply (Jin & Gruber 2003).
