Make sure the edge is properly aligned just where you need to cut. Score a line as far as you can with your utility knife. Run the knife slowly so it doesn’t slip. Lift the knife and square up on the right side. WebYou can cut all four sides of a rectangular hole this way, or you can also leave the last side to the drywall knife so that there will be less clean-up for you to do after. Once all sides are cut or scored, knock out the piece of drywall to complete the opening. Clean up the cut with a drywall rasp or the jigsaw and cut off any flaps remaining.
